Sunny day + show + good news = happiness

Good evening :-)
Today was a beautiful day. Finally the sun came out after many days of gray sky and rain.
So after my castings I sat down on the stairs of the stunning OpĂ©ra and there was a guy singing in front of it.
It was amazing, more and more people were coming to listen to him and he got a lot of applause.
When I had to leave I went happily to my job. I did the show for JEFEN today.
It was a nice show and further down you can see some pictures. ;)

Moreover I received good news today. So I'm staying at least until the 6th/7th of October since I have a job AFTER fashion week. Sorry guys, the contract says I'm not allowed to tell you anything about it but I'm excited. :-)

So here are some pictures of my day! Enjoy your weekend!

Various issues to discuss

Good evening buddies,

today I have to tell you about several issues going on in my life right now. As you know I thought that things were looking good for me in Paris and I expected to work well here because all my other agencies in the cities before (NY, London, Milan) told me that I'm perfectly skinny to work well in Paris.

On Monday I was very excited when I blogged as I was just confirmed for the Thierry Mugler show. However, as often in this business, they canceled me the next day and I was pretty disappointed again. So I was just running around the last few days doing castings and fittings.
FITTINGS? Oh yes ;) Actually even for the new jewelery line of no one else than Louis Vuitton. However, it turned out that the dresses were too big AGAIN! Actually they fitted quite well because I filled them out at the bust but my waist was still too tiny. It really sucks because that's always the main problem.
So today my booker spoke to me and told me that the responses of the clients are apparently really good and that they'd like to book me BUT if the clothes don't fit it's not possible.
After all, my next mission is "PUT ON 1-2 KG's". I know that many of you probably think I'm stupid that I can't put on only 1 or 2 kilos in a couple of days. Trust me, for me it is really hard. If you are running around all day because you have 12 or even more appointments to go to, you don't have much time to eat and your body is on move non-stop.
I'm gonna try my best though and then I can rock the next season. :)

Even though I have these fitting problems, sometimes you can fix it. That's what they did at my fitting today. So finally I'm doing my first show in Paris tomorrow for Jefen (an Asian designer).

As castings are still going on I hope it's not my last show here as well lol. Fingers crossed and see you soon with a picture update, too.

Until then --> enjoy your meal ;) xoxo

J'aime Paris!

Hello everyone :)

I just LOVE Paris! It was my first day - a really tough one actually - but I'm in such a good mood!
I thought that I would have a driver but it's sunday so I'm only gonna get a driver tomorrow. However, the result was that I had to do EVERY single casting by myself! The agency just gave me a map and then I had to go with the metro and figure out how to use
it myself.
Gladly I did this whole procedure already in NY and London so it was quite easy for me to figure out which metro to take.
In the end I did 12 out of 13 castings and I have to admit that I'm a little bit proud I made it. :)

The castings were not bad and there were already 2 good names among them. Sshhh..

The best is still to come though!! I have SO MANY options and casting requests and I really really hope that at least one of these clients will book me. The only thing I'm gonna tell you right now is that my absolute favorite designer is among them! The rest I keep as a secret as long as I don't know if I'm booking the shows.

I'd say: "CROSSED FINGERS" and pleeease wish me luck :-))

Xoxo and bisous <3

PARIS!!!

Bonsoir :)
As always there was a lot going on the last days.

Finally I booked a show and it was AMAZING! I did Ter et Bantine today with 2 looks and it was reeeaaally nice.

Then I was finished at around 6pm and the agency called me that my flight to Paris is gonna be at 8.30pm. So I had to hurry up and now I'm already in Paris.

However, yesterday I did the rehearsal for Versace. They had a 400m runway which was fancy so let's hope for the show next season. :)
Outside of Versace another Fashion blogger spotted me again lol.

I really have to get some sleep now to be fresh for PARIS :)

???

Buongiorno everyone,
today I have a little break between my appointments so I can tell you a little bit about the last few days here in Milano.
I had a couple of castings and I can tell you that it is REALLY different from all the other cities here. Sometimes the clients don't even want to see you walk!! They just take a comp card and look at you and that's it. STRANGE!
I knew that the market in Milan is really tough but I didn't expect something like that.
So the only jobs I had here so far were that I did the looks for Jo No Fui and for Trussardi, which means that you are the girl trying all there outfits to help them decide which of them they might eliminate for the show or with which accessorizes they want to show the outfit.
At Trussardi it was weird though...I was doing their looks for 2hours and suddenly the woman said: "Maike, I'm sorry but you're too skinny for our clothes. Your waist is too small." Seriously??? Why did I spent 2 freaking hours there then?
However, I just wanted to let you know that the market here is really hard especially if it's your first season and that's why I might go to Paris already tomorrow or on Saturday.

I really love italy as many of you know because I also speak italian and the people are just so nice and not as stiff as in England, but I'm really looking forward to going to Paris since I reaaally want to work well there.

Fingers crossed! :)

Sono arrivata a MILANO!

Yes you just read MILANO! I'm in Milan already, in fact I arrived last night.
That's how the story goes..

..It's sunday morning and I'm sitting at Somerset House getting my hair and make-up done. Then I notice I have 5 missed calls from my agency, so I called them back but they only wanted to know my date of birth and my full legal name. I told them and I was actually wondering why this was so urgent for them to know.
So we ran the show twice. After the first time doing the show I texted my agent that I was opening the show. :)
Her reply was kind of like this: "Amaaaazing! You know you're flying tonight. Are we going to see you before you go?"
I answered like "WHAT??? I am flying tonight? I didn't know about that."

Yeah so basically it turned out that I have many good clients in Milan who would like to see me at their castings. So I flew to Milan last night and here I am now, busy as always, but it's amazing. :-)

I'm seeing real good clients and I reeeaaally hope that someone will book me, that would be such a HUGE chance for me to step through the door. Fashion week starts on Wednesday so we'll see how it goes and I'll keep you guys posted!

Xoxo

Some News about my time in London

Hi everyone :) Finally I have a bit time to talk to you again. There was SO MUCH going on the last 3 days. So as you know, I arrived in London on Friday, right?

I was really busy there coz I had like 16 castings on Friday and also on Saturday!! I like Union - my agency in London - but the people in general were kind of close-lipped and not as open-minded as in New York or in Milan. (<-- more to Milan later)
Anyways, the weather was the worst part about London haha coz on Saturday morning we had only 10°C and it felt like winter since I arrived from 26°C NYC!!

However, I was booked for a show on Sunday, for Lucas Nascimento. In fact I wasn't only doing the show - no, I even OPENED it. :))

1st day of London

First day of London and I am sooo tired.

I had nearly 20castings today and if you thought NY would be tough --> if you arrive late in London, it's harder haha.
However, the more castings the more chances you get.

But it's actually freezing in England! 10 degrees less then in NYC :(( byebye summer.

I hope I will get many jobs in here :) So I won't be able to blog everyday guys, I'm sorry.

Good night ;-))

Byebye NYC, hello London

Hi everyone,
a little update on my journey. I'm leaving NYC tonight and my next destination will be LONDON!

I took a long walk through the city today and I know that I'm gonna miss this gigantic city. Everything is gigantic, no kidding, it's enormous. Even on my last day I was overwhelmed.

So here are a couple of impressions taken today at the M&M's world and at the Disney store:

So I didn't get to see the original Statue of Liberty but at least this one. ;-)

I hope I will have a little time to keep you posted as soon as possible from London.
See you soon guys. Xoxo

NYC features

Alright, let's talk about some features of this city that you really have to get used to if you are a young girl coming to New York for the first time in your life.

First of all: Get a map!
I got lost a couple of times because I was confused by the east and west streets as well as by local and express trains. There are many things to be considered if you want to arrive at your destination in time ;-)

And by the way. Don't just walk into Central Park without having a clue at which corner you enter. The park is HUGE!!

2nd:
Never answer people on the streets!
I figured out that it's part of the daily life that random men on the streets say things to you like "Hey pretty, hey gorgeous, you look so sexy, what's up beautiful etc.". It's charming yes, but on some point it can be scary, too. I'm literally talking about men FOLLOWING you on the streets. They would keep talking to you and walking after you unless you tell them to stop.
I'm not kidding, believe me, I'm talking of my own experiences.

3rd:
Always bring a jacket. I know it's still summer and even if it has 30°C outside, you never know what's going on INSIDE. Thank god there is air conditioning everywhere, even in the trains. However if you have a job in a building with too much air conditioning, you can easily freeze and you don't wanna get sick right?

These were a few tips I can give so far. I'll add some as soon as there will be needs to. :)

Presentation - Katherine Grey

Today I had a presentation for Katherine Grey. Every 15 minutes we had a break where we were supposed to walk around, sit down, chat a little..it was fun. All of the models were wearing masks so it was kinda like a mascerade ball.

Here are my Hair&Make Up:

Show 3 - THOM BROWNE

One of the highlights was definitely the Thom Browne show! Inspired by a ballet the designer known for the unusual created an outrageous show including ballet dancers, models on spinning wheels and guys spinning them around. The prints were various, reaching from seahorses and wales to multi-coloured as well as black/white square-prints.

Show 2 - PARSONS

Having a last minute fitting the night before the show was exciting, even more because I had 4 outfits for the show :)

Show 1 - Tia Cibani (Ports 1961)

For me the fashion week started already at the 5th of September (officially at the 6th) with the show of Tia Cibani who debuted after having worked for Ports 1961 for many years.

NYC - where my journey begins

Hello everyone,

having been a model for let's say one and a half year now I'm finally able to take the step overseas as I just finished school this summer gladly with good A-level results.

I was looking forward to this for such a long time and now it has finally arrived.

New York City - this is where I start my first season as a full time model being part of the Spring/Summer2013- fashion week :-)
